REIKI
About Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese holistic energy-based treatment. Working as a support mechanism to the body, Reiki re-establishes a normal energy flow of ki (life force energy) throughout the system, which in turn can enhance and accelerate the body's healing ability. Through a series of hand positions on or just above the body, the therapist allows energy to flow through their body. The client’s body then draws off the amount of energy that is required.
The Japanese word REIKI constitutes from two kantzi (ideogrammes) of Chinese origin. REI which can be interpreted as Universal, Spiritual or Unity and KI which can be interpreted as Force of Life or Living Energy. In a free translation REIKI means Universal Energy of Life.
More than that, REIKI is a form of healing and balancing energy that can transform our life.
The healing power of the human touch and the practice of meditation has been known since the beginning of the human kind and it has been described in Christian and Buddist tradition among others.
REIKI in this form we know it today has been re-introduced by Dr. Mikao Usui (1865-1926).

Machi is a Reiki Grand Master and Teacher and an Acupressure - Stress therapist. She graduated from the Axelsons Gymnastiska Institutet of Stockholm. She has been practicing these two forms of holistic therapies since 2002 in Sweden, Greece and in Cyprus. She also practices and teaches Qi gong, a therapeutic and meditative form of movement of Chinese origin.
Machi originaly studied Dance. She graduated from the State School of Dance in Greece and she continued her studies in Modern Dance and Release technique in New York with a scholarship of the Alexandros Onassis foundation. She has choreographed for her dance company Asomates Dynameis, but also for the Theater and the television. She is currently teaching Dance at the University of Nicosia and at the Satyricon Theater Drama School. Machi is the artistic director of dance company Asomates Dynameis and a founding member of Dance Lab Nicosia.
