Teacher | Rebecca Zambetakis

I started yoga and meditation seven years ago on a personal level, and after seeing the benefits that I received in many aspects of my life, I decided to take the challenge of a teacher training course. My first course, in Malta in 2004, was with the Ananda Marga School of Yoga. Ananda Marga origins from India and follows the Eight Limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga) system of yoga and meditation, with a training based on 40 asanas (postures), some unique to Ananda Marga and closer to the form of yoga known as Hatha. Quite unique to this system is the repetition of each asana, some up to 8 times, and the holding of the breath (kumbaca) for 8 seconds in many postures, bringing a calm stillness to the mind and enhancing focus and contemplation of the posture and practice.
I followed up my study of yoga at retreats and seminars in Cyprus and Greece, and some years ago attended another training in Syria, in which I was introduced to other styles of yoga, physiology and alignement. Bringing all these studies together, and most of all, practice, I have put together this wonderfully relaxing and also strengthening practice.

My classes are for all ages and abilities, with modifications for pregnancy. Classes are small, enabling me to focus on a one to one kind of basis with all students. I also do one to one private classes, have taught in a private school for the last year ( 13-17 yr olds ) and have followed seminars on childrens yoga.

Blessed that I started yoga and even more so that I can share these great benefits with others.
